Ditch wandered his home, the grassy meadows and plains of Nevada, North America. He was tall and strong and the eldest of all the deer in his territory. He wanted to start a herd. He started searching his territory for scents. He would start with a doe first.

Ditch spotted the small doe and galloped after her scent. She found her in the forest next to a bramble bush. "Hello." he bowed his head in greeting.

Sara gasped. She backed up. She turned running deeper into the forest. Get away from me she screamed in her head. She ran as fast as her small body could go.

Ditch sighed. This would take awhile, maybe he should aproach a different way. He looked around him. He was a great wooden piece that could be used to hold things. He grasped it in his teeth. He saw some acorns lying on the ground. He place the wooden object back on the ground and started placing acorns in it. Soon the wooden piece was filled with them. He took his wooden item and followed her scent once more. He found her in a similar situation, standing next to an oak tree. "Hello, I brought you something." he spoke, muffled by the acorns as he placed them on the ground.

Sara flinched bach away from the buck. Her gaze never left him. She ate the acorns. When done she took of full blast again. She ran a hour stopping by a willow tree. Sara sat on the willow tree's brach that was like a seat. The willow in the middle of a shallow lake.

Ditch sighed once more. Eventually the doe would have to stop running, and he would have to stop chasing. He once again reluctantly set off after her, finding her shortly after in a small lake. He waded in the shallows, a distance away from her. "Don't run this time. Please don't run, I'm not here to harm you." he tried to reassure her.

Ditch backed up. He layed down in the water, wetness soaking him to the beginning of his neck. "What did I ever do to you?" he asked, hoping to knock some sense into the doe.

Night had fallen, but Ditch was being persistant and would not leave. Soon, he heard noises that called for meat. A mountain lion was coming and it was coming for his meat. The cougar came, a lone male that looked half-starved and battle ready. Ditch rose to his hooves and readied his antlers for a fight for his life. The cougar came at him, hissing in fury, Ditch lowered his head and let the cougar run into his head, clashing with the hard points that lay between his ears. The cougar yowled in agony and leapt of him. He glared at Ditch, then turned his head to see the doe and it charged at her.

She squeled. Turning to run into the forest. Her feet flying fast. Her small body flew into the tough undergrowth. She ran till the the area was so thick with the undergrowth the animal after her wouldn't be able to get in it.

Ditch saw where the cougar was heading, right after the small doe. It pounced into the trees and was following her. It jumped down once it reached her and Ditch jumped into action. He kept kicking and rearing at the hungry cat until it started to back off. He went back down and charged at it with full force. The cat must have remembered what happened the last time he saw horns because before Ditch could hit him, it darted off into the forest, spitting and hissing. It wouldn't be gone for long.
